Mattan Klein Flute, Bandleader

Flutist and bandleader Mattan Klein was born in Jerusalem. He completed his studies at the Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem and at the Berklee College of Music in Boston with honors, he had performed with faculty and guest artists such as Billy Childs, Giovanni Hidalgo and Victor Mendoza. Mr. Klein leads several ensembles in New York and has toured North America, Europe, Israel and East Asia. His original compositions won him prizes in competitions such as the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the USA Songwriting Competition, in addition one of the tracks on the Seeds of Sun 'What's New' release was featured on the Global Rhythm Magazine CD in New York.

Mattan plays Jazz at prestigious venues such as the Blues Alley in Washington DC, New Mexico Jazz Workshop and the Nashville Jazz Workshop. He is a regular at Shira NYC productions and has backed Israeli icons such as Miki Gavrielov and Yoni Rechter on national tours. Starting 2006 Mattan was an artist in residence at the National JCC Maccabi Artsfest for the Jazz discipline and is the only artist to be invited to all 8 Atrsfests (being the artistic director of the festival in Boca Raton, in 2007. The Mattan Klein Quartet had performed at the 2009 Tel Aviv International Jazz Festival and the 2009, 2010 and 2011 Israeli Jazz Festivals in Philadelphia.
Yoav Polachek <i>Piano</i>

Yoav Polachek Piano

Mr. Polachek was born and raised in Tel Aviv, Israel. He served in the Israeli navy as an officer, and after his service was involved in major theatre productions such as 'Peter Pan' and 'Les Miserables'. Mr. Polachek moved to Boston and upon completing his degree at the Berklee College of Music returned to Israel and joined leading artists such as Ariel Zilber, Gali Atari, Miki Gavrielov and Ilanit.

He composed music for the film industry and wrote scores for numerous TV features such as the award winning 'Florentine 97'. In New York Mr. Polachek completed his Masters degree at NYU and worked for as an internet audio specialist. Mr. Polachek is musical director of Shira NYC, the largest Israeli sing-along music production company in North America.

Manu Koch Piano

Born in 1972 in Baar, Switzerland, Manu Koch studied classical piano for thirteen years and took two years of tenor saxophone lessons before moving to Boston where he attended Berklee College Of Music. Since May 2000 he is based in New York and has since toured with Afro Pop singer Angelique Kidjo, is a member of Miles Davis/Santana bassist Benny Rietveld's group which occasionally also features Cindy Blackman on drums and performs regularly with Brazilian artists and bands such as Brazooca, Elin, Susan Pereira & Sabor Brazil, Davi Vieira and more.

Gustavo Amarante <i>Bass</i>

Gustavo Amarante Bass

Born in 1973 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, bassist Gustavo Amarante began his musical studies at the Fundação de Educação Artística and Fundação Clovis Salgado. Gustavo started to play professionally accompanying singers at a young age. In Brazil he also worked as a studio musician recording jingles and albums.

After deciding to continue his formal studies, Gustavo moved to the United States in 1994, where he attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston. At Berklee, he studied bass, composition and improvisation with renowned teachers such as Oscar Stagnaro, Hal Crook, Ed Tomassi and Whit Browne. Gustavo graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Professional Music.

In the United States he has had the opportunity to perform, tour and record with several artists and groups.

Gustavo’s credits include performances/recordings with or alongside: Hendrik Meurkens, violinist Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, singer Machan Taylor, John Scofield, Claudio Roditi, Romero Lubambo, guitarist Aquiles Báez, Latin Grammy nominated artist guitarist Luis Salinas, singer Simón Díaz (Venezuelan living legend), drummer Bob Moses, tango singer Katie Viqueira, singer Elin, pianist Alon Yavnai, vibraphonist Victor Mendoza, Brazilian singer Giana Viscardi, saxophonist Carlos Malta, pianist Helio Alves, and Bongo Maffin (South African pop sensation band) to name a few.

Dan started playing drums and percussion at the age of eleven, and a year later enrolled at the Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem. He graduated from the school at seventeen and was already a busy drummer on the Israeli music scene, playing with a number of different groups such as the Avishai Cohen Trio, the Amos Hoffman group and with Mr. Arnie Lawrence's groups. He has performed at most of the major venues in Israel including the Jerusalem Theater, the Camelot Club in Tel Aviv and The International Red Sea Jazz Festival.

Dan continued his education at the New School University, in New York City. He graduated in 2004 and is now an active player on the New York City scene. He has played at many major venues in the U.S. and in Europe. Dan is also working with artist Tami Bentor and has performed with her in the U.S. and in Europe. he has worked with different bands and musicians in New York City, such as, the Harry Whitaker Trio, Junior Mance Trio, Stacey Kent , Art Hirahara Trio, Ray Gallon, Jeb Patton, Dave lalama, Joe cohn, Joe Magnarelli, Marco Panascia, Omer Avital, John Di Martino, Barak Mori, Michael Kanan, Greg august, Jason Lindner, Joe Martin, Noriko Ueda Trio/Big Band, Ron Affif, Pharaoh's Daughter, Nick Hempton,Toru Dodo and many others.

Mr. Lion grew up in Tel Aviv, Israel. He served in the Israeli Airforce Orchestra, and played with many artists on the Israeli scene including Danny Sanderson, Alon Olearchik, Mazi Cohen, Gidi Gov, Danny Litani, Korin Alal and many more. In New York Mr. Lion's original drumming style has earned him popularity among many musicians on the Rock/Pop/Alternative scenes. He played with figures such as Milo Z, Moe Holmes, Warner Brother Recording Artist Lizzy West, Pharaoh's Daughter, Sarah Aroeste, Moshav Band and many many more.
